Coach K spoke out on Colin Cowherd’s show about a few things, notably the Coronavirus, how coaches should (and shouldn’t) respond to same and how that underscores his long, lonesome cry for a commissioner for college basketball.
In a nutshell, he thinks it’s good that coaches are speaking out on the pandemic but thinks it would be better if they spoke with one voice, aka a college basketball commissioner.
As he reminds, college basketball is a billion dollar industry and is not being run like anything that valuable.
The coaches are a case in point.
We laughed a bit about a podcast recently with Danny Hurley’s charming and very funny wife Andrea, who poked some gentle fun at his response to the virus. It was very funny but also underscores Coach K’s point: it’s best to listen to people who know what they’re doing. As much as we admire Danny, his reaction is almost purely one of fear.
Which reminds us: this is a good time to pass along this interesting work from Finland’s Aalto University which illustrates just how far one sneeze can spread.
Anyway, there’s a lot more here too, including K on why he turned down the Celtics and coaching Zion Williamson. You should definitely check it out.
