Here’s an oldie but a goodie: Duke’s December 12th, 1990 visit to Norman to take on Billy Tubbs’ Oklahoma team.
The brilliant Duke team that would knock off UNLV had not yet fully emerged: Crawford Palmer was starting for one.
The core is here though. Christian Laettner, Thomas Hill, Grant Hill and Bobby Hurley started alongside Palmer.
Oklahoma had won 51 straight games and if we heard right, both Tubbs and Duke’s Mike Krzyzewski were in their 11th seasons.
Duke was pushed - OU was up five at the half - but the Blue Devils ended up winning 90-85.
Also noteworthy: Mark Price’s younger brother Brent started for the Sooners.
A few months later, Duke would get hammered by UNC in the ACC Finals and Coach K would famously tell them that they were going to win the national championship - which of course they did, beating Kansas after knocking off UNLV in that monumental upset.
