Duke target Patrick Baldwin, who plays for Sussex Hamilton in Wisconsin, suffered a serious injury Friday night in a high school game against Menomonee Falls.

According to his coach, Andy Cerroni, his ankle appears to have been dislocated: “It wasn’t good. It was dislocated. That’s why I sprinted out there right away, because I saw it popped out, and then it went back in. Obviously, it’s serious and it’s unfortunate...My heart breaks for him.”

Baldwin is one of the finest recruits in the country and has been pursued by every imaginable program. He’s not just athletically gifted, he’s also a very fine student. He’s going to do well in life, regardless of how far basketball takes him.

While we don’t know how serious the injury is, it reminds us a bit of Harry Giles. Giles was the #1 recruit in his class before his knee woes began.

It’s obviously a setback but Baldwin comes from an athletic family that understands what he needs to do now. We have no doubt he’ll bounce back from this.
