Report: Duke Women’s Basketball Cancels Season

Probably unavoidable but still heartbreaking

Earlier this month, when asked about the pandemic, new Duke women’s coach Kara Lawson said “I don’t think we should be playing right now. That’s my opinion on it.”

Now, according to the AP, Duke women’s basketball has decided to cancel the rest of the season.

No reason was given but we can't think of any reason to cancel the season other than the Corona pandemic.

It’s an unfortunate end to the debut season of Kara Lawson which showed so much promise. We’re sure that every effort was made to continue but clearly that wasn’t seen as a possibility.

The men’s season has so far escaped any known consequences from the pandemic.

Also, the decision has not yet been publicly confirmed but we expect that that will come soon.
