The Covid-19 pandemic has played havoc with everything, not least of all sports. So it’s no great surprise to learn that, according to reports, Duke is now going to host Michigan State for its part in the Championship Classic. Adam Zagoria reported the story first; CBS’s Matt Morlander has the date as December 1st.
The game between Kansas and Kentucky will be held in Indianapolis.
Norlander says the reason for the dual location is different Covid protocols between the conferences.
That’s a great game to have in Cameron of course, but it would be a lot more fun with fans, and we don't think there are going to be many people there at all.
We’d assume (and hope) that TV will be pumping in crowd noises, because that’s just so much part of the game.
On the other hand though, it would be a lot of fun to hear everything you can’t normally here - the interplay between coaches and referees, the occasional loose curse on the court and perhaps some cutting comments between coaches. We don't think Mike Krzyzewski and Tom Izzo would engage in that but in other games we can imagine it.
