Shay Bollson won’t arrive until 2022 but this will pay dividends earlier than that.

Kara Lawson has put her first major stamp on Duke recruiting with a commitment from Top 20 recruit Shay Bollin.

A 6-3 forward from Bridgewater, Massachusetts, Bolin (2022) averaged 18.8 points, 10 rebounds, 2.5 blocks and 2.2 as a sophomore.

She’s Lawsom’s third recruit, joining Emma Koabal (2022) and Lee Volker (2021) as future Blue Devils.

Bollin is said to be a stretch 4, solid inside and agile on the break. And of course it’s possible she might not be done growing.

She’s also done us the favor of coming up with a natural nickname for her new coach. When she said this to the Patriot Ledger, thanks to the editorial work, the nickname was obvious: “I love Duke. I think [Lawson’s] awesome. I’ve talked to her a couple of times. I think she’s a really good person, a really good coach. I’m really excited to see what she does at Duke.″

Awesome Lawson? Or Awesome Kara Lawson, take your pick. What could be better?
