Duke started the season with three quarterbacks and will finish it with two as Chris Katrenick, a redshirt junior from Illinois has stepped away from the team.

No reason was given other than personal circumstance.

He hasn’t played a lot but depth is still important and Duke is down to two primary quarterbacks - Clemson transfer Chase Brice and Gunnar Holmberg, a 6-3 redshirt sophomore from Wake Forest who hasn’t played a whole lot. We’re sure the staff is looking at emergency situations and figuring out who to turn to if there are real problems.

Whatever his reasons, we hope that everything turns out well for him, that there’s nothing dire, and we hope he’ll be back although of course there’s a reasonable chance that he’ll transfer.
