Usually guys who are going to be grad student transfers announce their plans after the season has ended but not this time: Yale’s Paul Atkinson, Jr. has announced he’ll be leaving Yale after this season.
Last season he averaged 17.6 points and 7.3 rebounds. That and his experience will probably find him a nice new basketball home. And at 23, he’s an unusually old big man by collegiate standards.
So far he’s heard from, at least, these schools: Duke, Miami, Notre Dame, Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, Arkansas, Florida, Southern Cal, Stanford, Gonzaga, Maryland, Texas, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Cincinnati, Georgia, Kansas, Xavier, SMU and Virginia Tech.
Obviously there’s a lot of competition for his commitment. It’s way too early to know much about this so we’ll just have to wait to learn more.
