We talked a bit the other day about the upcoming documentary about Kinston basketball called Something In The Water.

Well here’s a longer and more substantial article about the project and the father of former Blue Devil Brandon Ingram, Donald Ingram, is a key figure not only in the movie but in Kinston in general and Kinston basketball in particular.

People toss the word hero around pretty casually and helping to renovate a recreational center and while helping young guys find their way in basketball and the broader world isn’t the same thing as, say, running into the World Trade Center to save lives as it’s collapsing, it’s nonetheless a noble and heroic thing to do. Ingram and Bob Hurley have a lot in common, with the most important thing being to help young men build futures in towns with very rough edges.

The documentary will have a preview screening on UNC-TV on November 5th and then will officially air on Thanksgiving at 10 p.m.

So be prepared to shake off the tryptophan-induced food coma and watch.
