Can the Buccaneers emulate SFA?

According to Charleston’s Post and Courier, Charleston Southern will be making the bus trip up to Cameron this season on December 12th, following a November 25th game at NC State.

Last year, the Buccaneers finished 14-18 and pulled a slurpy in the Big South at 7-11. Coach Barclay Radebaugh has been there for 15 years which is pretty good considering his career record is 207-256.

In fairness to Radebaugh, CSU is not an elite program - its gym seats just 881 - and he has made the NIT twice and the CIT once.

It’s sometimes easy to confuse Charleston Southern and College of Charleston, especially from a distance, but they’re not the same thing. John Kresse made CoC a significant basketball school, finishing his run at 560–143, including an NCAA upset of Maryland.

Even so, Coach K learned the Lesson of Wagner years ago and his team got a refresher course in the Lesson of Stephen F. Austin last year.

Charleston Southern may not be a great program right now but don’t expect Duke to treat them cavalierly. Not after last year.
