Here’s a Daily Feather for Cdu’s preview of the Duke-Georgia Tech game. Here’s an excerpt:
This game is sort of the inverse of our last game. Whereas Miami could score but stunk defensively, Georgia Tech is a solid defensive team but a train wreck offensively. The Jackets don’t shoot well from anywhere other than at the rim. They don’t offensive rebound well. They have a few guys who pass fairly well, but they also turn it over a LOT. The only thing they do notably well on offense is draw fouls. On defense, they contest shots very well, forcing teams to an abysmal 3pt% and 2pt%. They block a lot of shots and force some turnovers. Defense is definitely their calling card, going primarily zone but with a variety of looks from it. Their zone even employs some man-to-man stuff in it, and they mix it up throughout the game and even within possessions. They aren’t a spectacular defense, but they are pretty darn good on that end. And they can make life difficult. Pastner, a Calipari discipline, tries to run a dribble-drive offense. But it doesn’t really work for them with the guys they have. Only a few guys are really decent offensive players.
