Duke continued its recent skid, with a loss to Wake Forest pushing it to three straight.
Duke could have won this game, or at least got it to overtime, but Wake had the ball at the end of regulation and hit a shot from near the foul line with time running out.
The loss pushes Duke back to one game over .500 at 7-6 overall and 1-1 in the ACC.
Haley Gorecki led Duke with 17 points and five boards. Jade Williams added 11 points and Kyra Lambert had 10.
Duke shot just 34.9 percent for the game and a miserable 12.9 percent from behind the line.
After the game, coach Joanne P. McCallie had this to say: “[B]eing out-rebounded hurt us and we didn’t really dominate, get the paint points we needed. We took a lot of three’s, sometimes that happens—you take a lot of three’s and they don’t really work for you. So you have to have paint points, and we struggled there...We’re in this together. We’ve got to sort through things, learn from it, move onto the next and understand that there are many, many games in front of us and we have to take it one game at a time.”
