UNC lost another player to injury Friday - well, not today, it happened against Yale - but the basketball team announced Friday that Anthony Harris tore an ACL and is out for the season.
This is particularly bad news for UNC because it’s just one more injury in an injury-plagued season. Star freshman Cole Anthony is still out with his own injury and several other players have suffered lesser injuries as well.
It’s tough for Harris personally because he previously suffered an ACL injury to his left knee (the current one is to his right) and that’s just tough.
On a side note, we’ve seen over the years that Duke and UNC often parallel each other in strange ways. On this occasion the parallel is to former Blue Devil Harry Giles, who had a very similar knee history up to this point in his career.
UNC coach Roy Williams had this to say: “This is one of the most heartbreaking injuries one of my teams has ever dealt with. Anthony is such a great kid and his teammates and coaches have all seen the countless hours he put in to come back from the knee injury he suffered in high school.”
