Our apologies for not getting this earlier but Duke knocked off Notre Dame in Cameron Thursday night 50-47.
The Irish opened up in great form, winning the first quarter, 14 to just four for the Blue Devils.
After three quarters it was 40-33. The fourth quarter mirrored the first in reverse however, with Duke holding Notre Dame to just seven points while scoring 17 themselves.
Duke finally took the lead 47-46 with 32.6 left and hit three free throws to get to 50.
It was Duke’s first win over the Irish in 15 games and moves the Blue Devils to 9-8 overall and 3-3 in the ACC.
Duke won despite 25 turnovers, shooting 23.5 percent from three point range and shooting a truly atrocious 35.2 percent from the line.
Instinctively you’d see those stats and say hell no. Duke pulled off a minor miracle.
Incidentally, Notre Dame is, by Irish standards, wretchedly bad: 6-12 overall and just 1-5 in the ACC.
