A while back we mentioned Duke and UNC players who were high school teammates and totally missed Wendell Moore and Leaky Black. They were high school teammates on Concord’s Cox Mill and if we remember correctly (we do) they won three straight NC high school championships.

Also on the team: Caleb Stone-Carrawell, son of Duke assistant and former star Chris Carrawell.

In this game, Cox Mill had a big lead but lost it and won because their opponent, Jacksonville Northside, hit a three that came just after the buzzer. Poor guy.

Moore, who comes to Duke as an established winner, played a key role in this, hitting some critical free throws down the stretch including a pair that proved to be the game-winners.

We think Black left for UNC after that season, but Moore and teammates had one more title in them.

Young Stone-Carrawell ended up at Charlotte. His bio is still listed but he doesn't have any stats mentioned and no word of redshirting. We hope things are going well for him. His dad was (is) just the best. He remains one of our favorite Blue Devils.
