According to the Duke Chronicle, Duke men’s basketball will hire a female manager for the first time since 2015.
That part is factual. We’re not casting aspersions here - they probably know stuff that we don’t - but this doesn’t completely make sense.
As noted here, Duke has certainly hired female managers in the past. In fact, Mike Krzyzewski’s first Duke team had a female manager. It’s certainly nothing new.
The interesting thing here would be not simply to point it out but to understand why a longstanding practice was suddenly changed. Our experience with Duke basketball is that things are usually carefully thought out and when changes are made it’s for a particular reason. And we don't think it’s hotel rooms because accommodations have been made in hotels since 1980.
No offense to the writer of that article but the why would be much more interesting than just the has.
