No great surprise here: Duke has named seniors Jack White and Javin DeLaurier, along with sophomore point guard Tre Jones, as co-captains.

The first two were co-captains last season while Jones’s defense and leadership make him an ideal candidate.

It’s a good leadership group. DeLaurier really came on at the end of last season and while White struggled with three point his shot, no one doubts his passion or effort. He’ll be solid.

And as far as Jones goes, we’d guess that if he had his druthers, Coach K would always appoint his point guard as at least a co-captain and he’s spoken about Jones in a big way, saying that his point guard skills, and especially defense, is there with that of Tommy Amaker, Bobby Hurley and Tre’s brother Tyus Jones. Saying that the younger Jones is on that left is enormous praise. He almost has to be captain.
