Duke football is not associated with greatness in the football world but that’s a recent development.
So when ESPN did a list of the top 150 football teams of all time we figured they’d just about have to list the 1938 Duke team which went undefeated, untied and unscored upon in the regular season, giving only one touchdown quite late to USC in the Rose Bowl.
That was one of the most remarkable accomplishments by any school anytime and Wallace Wade was one of the giants of the game.
It’s a shame ESPN couldn’t find a place for that team on this list. It certainly deserves it.
