We missed this when it came out but it’s still worth linking to because USA Coach Gregg Popovich had some high praise for former Duke Blue Devil Mason Plumlee.

Here’s what he had to say about the current Denver Nugget: “He is one of those, I call them, utility-type infielders. They’ll do whatever is asked. He plays good defense, he rebounds, he runs – he’ll do whatever it takes for his team to win. He’s an ultimate teammate and that’s why he’s here.”

As for Plumlee - keep in mind this was before the roster was finalized - he said this: “It’s a dream [to make the team]. I’m 29 years old, I’d feel like I’m nine years old [if I make the team]. I think any time you can make a team like this you got to pinch yourself a little bit because it’s just a special opportunity and it’s something I’d never forget.”

He didn't say it, but Popovich could have added that he was one of the few guys with international experience.
