JamesOn Curry, who came from Mebane, has had a baffling career. He earned a scholarship to UNC which was yanked after he was caught selling drugs in high school. He ended up at Oklahoma State where he did okay but went pro against coach Eddie Sutton’s advice.

He has the record now for the shortest NBA career of all time - 3.9 seconds - and a string of mistakes and bad decisions that basically derailed his life.

He had an accident that should have killed him - would have killed most people.

He’s managed to live through all of it and has, at long last, found some peace in tiny Drummond, Oklahoma, where he teaches basketball to kids.

It’s a sad epic but we couldn't be happier for him because he’s finally content and says he wouldn’t try for the NBA again. He’s home.
