Normally we don’t pay much attention to UCLA recruiting unless Duke is battling the Bruins for another recruit, but in this case, it’s worth a mention: the Bruins have gained a commitment from 6-5 PG Daishen Nix.

Nix is an Alaskan who has mostly eschewed the AAU circuit and who is a brilliant passer.

He also says that Cronin is going to loosen up and run a bit, which, at UCLA, is pretty much required. Cronin’s stodgy Cincinnati offense will never fly in Westwood.

Keep an eye on Dix when he gets to UCLA. There’s a chance that he could be spectacular and he could really accelerate UCLA’s revival. This is potentially a very important commitment.
