There are always disappointments, guys who should have made the NBA but for various reasons didn’t.

Think of Lenny Cooke, Raymond Lewis, Earl Manigault.

Then there are the guys who died tragically young -Len Bias, Hank Gathers and Benji Wilson.

Of these, Wilson is by far the saddest. An immensely promising Chicago high school star who was compared to Magic Johnson, Wilson was gunned down in 1984 at the age of 17 by a 15 year old who was trying to rob him.

His killer has spoken of his remorse and how he has tried to make up for it by working with kids.

In November, Wilson will have been dead for 25 years.
