Jeff Capel continues to make big changes and small ones to his Pitt program. The main one is getting better players and better infrastructure (meaning facilities and so forth),
Some things are just about the way things look, projecting a serious and professional image.
Which leads us to the redesign of Pitt’s court. It’s serious and restrained. The only thing that doesn’t really work is the font. It’s a bit cartoonish but there’s not much Capel can do about that.
Major programs don’t have to restore to garish gimmicks. If you look at Duke’s court, or UCLA’s, or Kentucky’s, or Kansas, they’re pretty basic. KU does have the big cartoonish Jayhawk at midcourt but that’s a deep part of the program’s image.
It’s pretty clear where Capel sees his program. Now to get it there.
