New Orleans Pelicans v Chicago Bulls
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA - JULY 08: Jaxson Hayes #10 of the New Orleans Pelicans battles for position with Daniel Gafford #12 of the Chicago Bulls during the 2019 NBA Summer League at the Thomas & Mack Center on July 08, 2019 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Everyone is excited about Zion Williamson’s arrival in New Orleans and rightly so, but as we’ve been saying for a while now, Pelicans exec David Griffin has done an incredible job putting a new team together. He turned Anthony Davis into a ton of young players and draft picks and while Zion gets the lions share of attention, he’s not the only new talent in town.

Aside from Williamson, Duke South also has Brandon Ingram, JJ Redick, Frank Jackson and Jahlil Okafor.

And in the secondary trade he made after taking full advantage of the Lakers, he got Jaxson Hayes (or the pick he used for Hayes) from the Hawks.

He’s skinny as a rail but he’s hugely promising. Take a look at these plays.

Now imagine Lonzo Ball running down court and choosing between Zion, Hayes and Ingram on the break - or someone kicking it back an open Redick for a three.

They’re going to be really young, but this may be the fastest rebuild we’ve ever seen.
