Eastern Conference Semi-Finals - Philadelphia 76ers v Toronto Raptors
TORONTO, CANADA - MAY 12: JJ Redick #17 of the Philadelphia 76ers warms up during Game Seven of the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals of the 2019 NBA Playoffs against the Toronto Raptors on May 12, 2019 at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

In case you were wondering, yes, JJ Redick is excited to be teammates with Zion Williamson: “Obviously I watched Zion a ton at Duke. I probably watched eight or 10 games this year, all of the tournament. I love his skillset and all that. What I love the most is the kind of person he is. Even before New Orleans had won the lottery, Coach K had called me right after we lost to Toronto. We were just chatting about RJ (Barrett) and Zion. He basically said ‘Zion is the best kid in the world.’ That’s exciting to be able to work with someone and help someone as they navigate those first few years, is all ears and is open to things.”

It also sounds like he’s looking forward to being a respected veteran and helping Williamson and his many young teammates get up to speed on what it takes to succeed in the NBA.

It’s quite a long ways from when Coach K once told Reddick that he “personally wasn’t worthy” of being a national champion.
