Kenny Dennard posted this video after his first coach at Duke, Bill Foster, passed away. It’s a really nice look at his life and career.

We like to remind people at times that Duke basketball didn’t start with Mike Krzyzewski, who replaced Foster in 1980.

Foster was never particularly secure about his accomplishments. Foster left Duke with some hard feelings on both sides, and after he left Coach K started an epic career.

Foster’s career never recovered. He went to South Carolina as the Gamecocks began to suffer as an Independent and later went to Northwestern, which is a brutally tough place to succeed.

None of that takes away from his accomplishments. He was innovative, brilliant, funny and a good man.

Watch this video and you’ll get a better sense of the man and his talent, charisma and accomplishments.
