An underappreciated game

Bobby Hurley
Bobby Hurley was a wonderful point guard and leader for Duke’s back-to-back 1991-92 national champions.

Duke had a lot to deal with in 1992. The pressure of the repeat, the occasional sideshows Christian Laettner caused, serious injuries to Bobby Hurley and Grant Hil and, for a time, the estrangement between Mike Krzyewski and Bob Knight.

So there was a lot going on.

Still, the ‘92 team was unbelievably good and could focus. It did it against Kentucky in the Elite Eight, it did it against Indiana in the first game of the Final Four and it did it after an awful first half against Michigan’s Fab Five in the championship game (Duke won by 20).

So while Indiana gave Duke a good game, basically, the Blue Devils were too good for Bob Knight’s bunch.

It is an under appreciated Great Game in the Duke canon. Here’s the full game.
