Recruiting: Duke’s And Michigan Targets Overlapping

Michigan basketball has changed enormously with Juwan Howard replacing John Beilein, who is now head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers. No one knows completely how Howard will coach but it almost certainly won’t be like Beilein, who had a singular brilliance for offense.

So this season he’s selling recruits on ideas rather than tangible accomplishments and, according to the Detroit Free Press, he’s targeting a number of guys Duke is also targeting:

• Walker Kessler
• Scottie Barnes
• Dawson Garcia
• DJ Steward
• Mark Williams

The article has comments on all of them except for Williams and, as we frequently say, you can get some insights by reading stuff that’s not Duke oriented.

So according to this, Michigan is especially keen on Kessler, Barnes is a long shot and Howard hasn’t really gone hard after Steward yet.
