Adam Zagoria talked to PittsburghSportsNow.com about Jeff Capel and his ongoing rebuild with the Panthers.
Pitt finished 14-19 last season and faded down the stretch as ACC play, always imposing, took a toll.
The thing that was different though was that Pitt under Capel, unlike Pitt under Kevin Stallings, kept playing even when things went poorly.
He’ll have a solid backcourt this year, with a year of big-time competition under its belt, and several solid newcomers.
As Zagoria says, he’s not going to get the next Zion Williamson at Pitt right away. But when Pitt wins 20 games, then 25, then makes a big run in the NCAA tournament...well at that point, the spigot will open and Capel will start winning in a major way and with major talent.
