You probably know that Quinn Cook signed with the Lakers but you may not have known - we didn’t - that he was a lifelong fan.
Even sweeter, he picked up the Lakers bug from his father, who died when he was 14. His dad wouldn’t let him stay up past midnight for any reason except to watch the Lakers.
Can you imagine how that must feel to a kid who still finishes every Instagram post and Tweet with RIP Dad?
Cook’s NBA life isn’t charmed exactly. He’s where he is because of hard work. Even so, he had a chance to play on one of the NBA’s best all-times teams in Golden State and now he’s playing with LA because LeBron James basically wanted him there.
And to continue the theme, when Jared Dudley said he planned to wear #2 and Cook said he had been too, Dudley just gave it to him.
That’s respect, not luck, but that’s what Cook has earned, and lots of it.
- Quinn Cook thought Warriors wanted him, then they changed their mind
- Quinn Cook insists ‘no hard feelings’ for Warriors after agreeing to deal with Lakers
- Quinn Cook signing with Lakers is ultimate tribute to his late father
