Former Blue Devil Quinn Cook really became a team favorite with Golden State but finances made it impossible for them to keep him.
So he was on the market again but no worries - LeBron James wanted him in LA and worked on Lakers management to make it happen.
Seriously, think about Cook’s journey. He wasn’t drafted but kept his chin up and kicked ass in the G League. Cleveland gave him a shot and it didn’t work out but clearly James loved him.
When he played his way into the Warrior’s hearts, remember what Steve Kerr said to him after he was part of the last championship?
He told him he belonged, that he had earned it.
You know, how often does a coach say that to one of the last guys on his roster?
With each stop, it’s clear that Cook, despite not starting, has a huge impact on his teams. We could be wrong, we have no idea about his grasp of the technical aspects of the game, but whenever his career is over, from here it looks like Cook has immense potential as a coach. In college he would be a devastating recruiter.
