NCAA Hits NC State With NOA

The NCAA has called on NC State, singling out Mark Gottfried, his assistant Orlando Early and former point guard Dennis Smith, Jr.

The News & Observer’s Luke DeCock says they’re telegraphing something: that they’re going after the coaches but, as much as possible, leaving the programs that are lucrative alone.

Keep an eye on some of the bigger programs like Kansas, also an Adidas school. And what does Gottfried have to say for himself?

One other reaction we’d like to know about: Gary Williams. Williams went out of his way to hurt State’s search because of his dislike of his old Maryland boss, former State A.D. Debbie Yow. We’d love to be a fly on the wall to hear what he’s thinking now.
