Barrett is easily tough-minded enough to handle the New York environment

NCAA Basketball: Army at Duke
Nov 11, 2018; Durham, NC, USA; Army Black Knights guard Tucker Blackwell (11) throws a pass from his back against Duke Blue Devils forward R.J. Barrett (5) during the second half at Cameron Indoor Stadium. The Blue Devils won 94-72.

The New York Post spoke to Duke assistant Jon Scheyer and both seem to be high on RJ Barrett as a Knick. ThePost, like everyone else in New York, assumed that the Knicks were going to get Zion Williamson. That obviously didn’t happen but RJ Barrett could potentially be a better NBA player and you might argue that he’s the better player now - on the ground. He can’t fly like Williamson, can’t block shots like that, can’t do those spectular aerial assaults and celebrations.

Between the lines though he’s incredibly versatile and can be used in lots of different ways.

We hope New York has other ideas because we don't want to see his spirit broke from multiple losing seasons.
