When Mike Krzyzewski came to Duke he was about 33, with one or two daughters and making about $40,000.

Times do change.

He’s in his 70s now, a multimillionaire, and his third daughter was born in Durham and now he’s got enough grand kids to start his own team.

And one of them will play for him this coming season.

Michael Savarino, son of Debbie Krzyzewski Savarino and her husband Peter, is a kid who got some offers but decided to walk on at Duke instead.

He’ll be a solid walk-on and a crowd favorite from Day One. And unlike Kentucky’s Brad Calipari, we doubt he’s going to transfer away from the family franchise any time soon.
