NCAA Basketball: Duke at Pittsburgh
Jan 10, 2018; Pittsburgh, PA, USA; Duke Blue Devils guard Mike Buckmire (51) participates in warm-ups before playing the Pittsburgh Panthers at the Petersen Events Center. Duke won 87-52.
Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

As Mike Buckmire earns a scholarship and becomes a full member of Duke’s team, the Chronicle takes a look at his career to date.

His on-court time has been minimal of course but that’s not to say he hasn’t contributed. Even the least important player in terms of minutes can work hard and Buckmire certainly has. He works as hard as anyone on the team.

He only has three career points so far but as you’ll see in the Chronicle piece, they were pretty impressive and hard-earned.

We have no idea who will be captains next year. It could be just Tre Jones. Or it could be Jones and this year’s captains, Jack White and Javin DeLaurier.

You could make an argument for Buckmire and fellow former walk-on Justin Robinson too, both of whom are walking advertisements for strong character and less visible forms of leadership.
