We have to admit that this sort of slipped by us but when the Los Angeles Lakers had Reggie Bullock and Brandon Ingram on the roster this year it may have marked the first time that two guys from Kinston, NC were on the same professional roster.

For those who don’t know, Kinston, population c. 21,000, is one of America’s great basketball towns and punches way above its weight. Here are some of the more prominent players from Kinston:

  • Brandon Ingram
  • Reggie Bullock
  • Jerry Stackhouse
  • Charles Shackleford
  • Cedric “Cornbread” Maxwell
  • Mitchell Wiggins

Also from Kinston: Football Hall of Famer Dwight Clark, Tyrone Willingham and funk masters Maceo and Melvin Parker.

Bullock sent out a nice message on Twitter about the bond with Ingram. Since he’s a free agent and the Pelicans need shooters, who knows, they might be the first two guys from Kinston to be on two professional rosters together.
