Duke legend and former assistant Johnny Dawkins had an unhappy end at Stanford but since moving to Central Florida he’s seen a renaissance and this spring was a high mark for his program.

The Knights nearly upset Duke in the tournament, with only the ball rolling off the rim on Aubrey Dawkins’ last shot saving the Blue Devils. Since Aubrey grew up around the program with his dad it would have been a fairy tale ending for him.

Even so, it was a great year for Aubrey and Johnny, who just got an extension from UCF through the 2024-25 season.

One wonders what Stanford thinks: since Dawkins left the Cardinal is just 48-49 and that’s in a PAC 12 that’s in a terrible down cycle.

Dawkins meanwhile is 67-34 since moving to UCF.
