As we’ve long said, the run-up to the draft is more interesting at times than the draft itself but probably less so for draft candidates than for fans. Take RJ Barrett.

Since draft night he’s been tipped for the Knicks and despite the dysfunction in the franchise, he’s found that possibility exciting having family ties to the city and probably drawn by the bright lights and history of Madison Square Garden.

The Knicks however may have other ideas.

Trade rumors have been circulating and now appear to focus on Atlanta: the Hawks have the #8 and #10 picks, which might explain why the Knicks interviewed Cam Reddish this week.

That would also give them a second pick and if it were us, not that we’re experts on the Knicks or the draft candidates, we’d look long and hard at Florida State’s Mfiondu Kabengele. They don't have anyone nearly that athletic, with the exception of DeAndre Jordan, and Jordan is on the backside of his career.

Also, while Barrett has rebuffed interest so far, the Memphis Grizzlies are doing their due diligence and have tried to have Barrett in for a workout. He has so far declined.
