Here’s an update on Wisconsin assistant Howard Moore who, along with his wife, daughter and son were in a terryifying accident that cost Mrs. Moore and her daughter their lives.
The accident sounds horrendous: a woman was going the wrong way on M-14 and fast and when she hit the Moores, there was a fireball. The woman who caused the accident, Samantha Winchester, died at the scene.
Moore suffered severe burns but is listed in stable condition. His son, Jerrell, just 13, is up and walking.
Burns are no joke and he’s not out of the woods yet and won’t be for some time, but stable is good news. And if Jerrell is up and walking around, that’s tremendously good news.
The public isn’t getting much news, which is a family decision, so lots we don’t know and realistically don’t need to know.
That said, we hope that Jerrell isn’t also severely burned.
Both of them are dealing with immense loss but Jerrell’s dad is an adult and more capable of coming to terms with this than is ka 13-year-old boy. That kid has a tough road ahead and we wish him nothing but the best. Like a lot of people around the basketball world, we’ll be thinking of him and pulling hard for him to come to terms with this awful tragedy.
