Rodney Hood took a big chance on himself this year. He could have signed a deal with Cleveland and stayed with the Cavaliers but he never seemed happy there, so getting out was probably a life and career changer.

He’s just coming off a tremendous post-season with Portland and now is a much more attractive prospective contributor than he was last spring.

Good timing heading into free agency. And while he clearly relished his Portland renaissance, he makes it clear that while he’d like to stay, he’s going to make his money. He’s 26 now and this is going to be his best contract so of course he wants to maximize his earnings.

And after the season he just turned in he’s going to have lots of options.
