One of the differences between the Dean Smith era and the Roy Williams era is that Smith had an amazing level of control over his program. There weren't many incidents of players being critical of the program or complaining, even after they left.

Williams has done exceptionally well in many ways but he does not have that level of control and that’s not even a criticism. Smith just had a level of control that few can match.

We mention this because in the Smith era, Nassir Little would never have suggested that he wasn’t used correctly and that he never really figured out his role at UNC.

It’s not a huge problem but it does illustrate the difference between the eras.
