The top three picks of the draft are probably clear now. The first two are almost certainly going to be Zion Williamson to New Orleans and now we know Memphis is going to take Ja Morant which means that New York is very likely to take RJ Barrett.
That’s barring any trades of course or anyone deciding to return to school, but otherwise, 1-2-3, it’s Zion Williamson, Ja Morant and RJ Barrett to the Pelicans, the Grizzlies and the Knicks.
After that things are back up in the air. No one has any guarantees and one surprise pick or trade will upset everyone’s plans and expectations.
So Cam Reddish, for instance, could get a guarantee from say Atlanta but if De’Andre Hunter fell or somehow became available, the Hawks would of course do what’s best for the franchise.
As they say, it’s a business. Some guys just figure it out sooner - like on draft night.
