NBA: Playoffs-Toronto Raptors at Philadelphia 76ers
May 9, 2019; Philadelphia, PA, USA; Philadelphia 76ers guard JJ Redick (17) shoots a three pointer in front of fans during the fourth quarter in game six of the second round of the 2019 NBA Playoffs against the Toronto Raptors at Wells Fargo Center.

If you haven’t seen it yet, which seems unlikely, Kawhi Leonard hit a dramatic shot to push the Philadelphia 76ers and former Duke great JJ Redick out of the playoffs.

How dramatic?

Joel Embiid almost got a piece of it and the shot bounced four times before falling through.

Which brings up an interesting situation for Philly.

Redick is now 34 but he’s taken superb care of himself and has continually refined his skillset.

He’s always been a superb shooter and that’s a major weakness for Philadelphia if he’s out of the equation.

So GM Elton Brand, also a Duke product, has to think carefully. Redick is an older player now but Philly really needs what he has to offer.

Typically when a player reaches the end of his career his contracts diminish. For Redick, that may not be the case.
