One of the sort of forgotten greats in ABA and NBA history is George Gervin. He was a major surprise after the merger because most people weren’t used to the idea of a 6-8 guy with guard skills.

Well he did. He had great hands and instincts too as you’ll see in this clip. A lot of times you’ll see older clips and you know the skills wouldn’t translate very well to the modern game.

Not in this one.

Gervin looks like he could go out and play in the league today.

Interesting trivia: he was recruited by Jerry Tarkanian when he was at Long Beach State but found the West Coast a bit much as a guy just out of high school and transferred back home to Eastern Michigan.
