2007 NCAA Women’s Final Four - Tennessee v UNC
CLEVELAND - APRIL 01: Head coach Sylvia Hatchell of the North Carolina Tar Heels coaches against the Tennessee Lady Volunteers during their National Semifinal game of the 2007 NCAA Women’s Final Four at the Quicken Loans Arena on April 1, 2007 in Cleveland, Ohio. Tennessee won 56-50.

We didn’t know what to think of the investigation into Sylvia Hatchell’s UNC program so we hadn’t commented on it yet.

However, in light of the announced investigation (by an outside firm) and the entire staff being put on leave, three transfers is rather interesting.

According to the Daily Tar Heel, Charlotte firm Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein will handle this and “assess the culture of the women’s basketball program and the experience of our student-athletes.”

In a statement the university said that the review was happening because of “issues raised by student-athletes and others.”

Since she’s been there for 33 years, and gone under an NCAA microscope in the recent past, you’d think they’d know all there is to know about her by now. It’s a very curious situation.
