It’s no surprise of course but Duke signee Vernon Carey was awarded the Gatorade Florida Player Of The Year Award Friday.

He finished averaging 21.1 ppg and nine rpg and is also now eligible for Gatorade’s National POY award as well.

He’s going to be a critical factor for Duke inside and will anchor Duke’s post game, not that he has to be wedded to it. He’s more versatile than that.

Not that it’s going to happen at Duke but it’s fun to imagine a Blue Devil team with Carey and Zion Williamson and 550 pounds between two players.
