There was wide spread derision after the New York Giants picked Duke’s Daniel Jones with the #6 pick and only time will tell how wise the pick was.

The derision was not universal however as some people love Jones and his potential. Among them: former Dallas exec Gil Brandt, ESPN’s Greg Cosell and former NFL quarterback Kurt Warner.

We’re hardly football experts but for our New York friends we can tell you this: this guy’s growth since he was a freshman is amazing. He’s also very tough and aside from his positional growth, he came to Duke as a really skinny high school kid. He’s certainly not that anymore and he’s not done growing yet.

On a secondary note to all of this, remember when Chazz Surratt and Jack Sears bailed on their commitments to Duke?

We would have loved to have seen their faces on draft night.
