UNC had a huge recruiting day on Tuesday, gaining commitments from point guard Cole Anthony, a Top Five recruit by any reckoning, and four star guard Anthony Harris.

Harris originally committed to Virginia Tech but asked for his release after Buzz Williams decamped for Texas A&M.

Adam Zagoria went with this headline: Recruiting Issues Behind Them, North Carolina Gets Two Guards On the Same Day.

Well probably. UNC basketball has escaped the scandal that threatened without so much as a silver hair on Ol’ Roy’s head being out of place.

Ironically though on the same day they signed, the sense of scandal revisited Chapel Hill via the basketball corruption trial as former financial adviser Marty Blazer testified that he had made payments to former UNC receiver Hakeem Nicks while he was still at UNC.

Also very worth noting: his former associate, Chris Hawkins who was a UNC cornerback, is awaiting trial as well. It seems reasonable to assume that they used Hawkins’ UNC connections to get to Nicks. One wonders what else Hawkins might cough up to minimize his jail time.
