The Chronicle has a really nice photo page up documenting the friendship between Zion Williamson and RJ Barrett.

We’re sure there are plenty of great friendships in the history of Duke basketball but the one this one reminds us of is the one between Gene Banks and Kenny Dennard. The two were freshmen stars in 1978 and like those two, Williamson and Barrett had an electric friendship that radiated through their team. It’s been fun to watch.

It reminds us of one of the cooler/smarter things Williamson did this year. At a certain point, he said “it’s RJ’s team.”

He may or may not have believed it; certainly it was debatable. However, it just underscored the trust the two had in each other which in turn allowed the rest of us to share in the particular brotherhood they found at Duke amongst the larger one.
