Tenting has become a Duke institution and, occasionally, a real headache. Basketball season is in the winter obviously and that means that camping out isn’t always comfortable. So why bother?

Aside from the first-rate basketball from courtside seats, the Chronicle’s Ann Gehan argues that it has developed a sense of community that draws people who aren’t necessarily big basketball fans.
